As a member of the ASC, the AOC and the IIHF, the IHA condemns the use of performance enhancing drugs and doping practices in the sport of Ice Hockey. The use of performance enhancing drugs and doping practices is contrary to the ethics of sport and potentially harmful to the health of athletes.

The IHA, through the assistance of it's Member States, aims to stop doping practices in sport by:
· imposing effective sanctions on persons who commit doping offences;
· educating and informing persons about drugs in sport issues, and;
· supporting the drug testing programs and education initiatives of ASDA and other drug testing authorities.

The Anti-Doping Policy applies to all members of the IHA, including players, officials, administrators, coaches, referees, office holders and employees.

The Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA) is the National Drug Testing Authority empowered to conduct testing on athletes for the detection of prohibited substances. Testing is normally aimed at athletes competing at national and international levels.

An athlete commits a doping offence if:
· a prohibited substance is present in the sample taken from the athlete, or
· the athlete has used or engaged in a prohibited method, or
· the athlete in anyway interferes with the sample or the collection of the sample, other than as required by the drug testing authority, or
· the athlete has refused to supply a sample for testing when requested by a drug testing authority.

A person (including an athlete) commits a doping offence if:
· the person is involved in trafficking, or
· the person assists, or is involved directly or indirectly, in any way whatsoever in the commission of a doping offence by another person, including in anyway interfering with a sample or the collection of a sample, other than as required by the drug testing authority, or
· the person fails to comply with this Policy.

A doping offence is committed as a result of a positive test result and the sample contains:

a. Ephedrine, b. Phenylpropanolamine,
c. Pseudoephedrine, d. Caffeine,
e. Strychnine, f. Marijuana
g. Nandralone h. Anabolic Steroids
I. Anabolic Steroids j. Amphetamine
k. Diuretica l. Narcotics
m. "Designer Drugs"

IHA members are to be aware that food supplements and medicines should be used under strict medical care as these may contain a prohibitive substance.
